Built in 1978-1979 as part of Village Homes project by students from the Davis Student Cooperative with the help of architect and designer Mike Corbett, Sunwise Co-op was the founding house of SCHA.
The passive solar house design includes photovoltaic, solar water heater, thermal curtains, white roof, and deciduous vines and the famous solar tubes — No AC needed.

Sunwise has 8 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living/dining area, front yard, back yard, garden, off street parking and is adjacent to the bike path. Village Homes residents also have access to to VH pool, orchards, community room and opportunities to participate in Village Homes governance.
